Robert Ivy is the executive vice president and CEO of the American Institute of Architects (IAA). Recently, he was awarded by the Mississippi Institute of Arts and Letters (MIAL) with the Noel Polk Lifetime Achievement Award. The body recognizes artists who have contributed significantly to the community through art. It was the first time that an architect has won the award. Some of the people who have won this award in the past include writer Eudora Welty, artist Walter Anderson and actor Morgan Freeman.
According to MIAL President, Nancy LaForge, there is no one like Robert Ivy when it comes to matters of making architecture available to the general public. She added that Ivy had demonstrated his skills through authorship of material on architecture. With the contribution he has made, he deserves to be recognized and his name put on the prestigious list of Noel Polk Award honorees.
The President of AIA added that CEO Robert Ivy is a great ambassador of the organization. Since he joined the organization in 2011, he has proved to have above standard knowledge on the topic or architecture which has enabled him to become a top author and editor of architectural materials. President Carl Elefante said that the award is a great achievement for his personal and professional life. As a native of Mississippi, he has done well in representing the community and the architects on a large platform. Elefante congratulated him saying that he deserves the award.
